We are looking for a principal ML Engineer who is passionate for personalization ML models, recommender systems and disciplines included but not limited to causal ML, deep learning, and reinforcement learning. You will contribute to researching and designing models pertaining to recommender-based systems for our large-scale software assurance organisation. What You'll Do

  • Design, build, evaluate, ship, and refine recommender models by hands-on ML development
  • Work in partnership with engineering teams to integrate models with existing production tools/systems/services and drive full automation of end-to-end modelling workflow using state of the art MLOps.
  • Detailed knowledge of modern deep learning models including but not limited to FCN, CNN, RNN, Autoencoders, Transformers, and Language models like BERT, GPT, or T5
  • Hands-on experience implementing models using scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Help drive optimisation, testing, and tooling to improve quality
  • Tackle head on large ML recommender projects that are ambiguous, requiring both technical and domain expertise.
  • Conduct extensive research on the optimal ways to solve the problems and produce novel ways/algorithms to deliver the desired result, resulting in significant impact to the downstream/upstream business processes.
  • Publish and present ML based solutions to internal stakeholders
  • Use statistical and optimisation techniques to build high performing recommendation, search ranking and personalization models
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior ML Scientists and act as a technical leader for recommendation, search ranking and personalization domains

What You’ll Bring

  • 5-7 + years of industrial experience developing advanced ML/AI models in one or more of the following areas: recommender systems, search ranking, and personalization applications
  • A master’s in computer science, Statistics, or Data Science
  • You have a strong background in machine learning, with experience and expertise in personalized machine learning algorithms, especially recommender systems
  • Experience with causal ML, deep learning, or reinforcement learning is a plus
  • You have hands-on experience implementing production machine learning systems at scale in Java, Scala, Python, R, or similar languages (Python preferred).
  • You care about agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and disciplined experimentation
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or other related fields
  • Experience working with cloud-based solution and development.
  • Experience working in a distributed team
  • Experience with analytical platforms like KNIME
  • Familiarity with Learning to Rank models
  • Experience with content moderation systems

Travel

  • The position will require approximately 25% onsite work in Sydney, Australia.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Designs, develops and programs methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse “big data” sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement.

Interacts with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments. Develops and codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. Identifies meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interprets and communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years relevant work experience. BS/BA preferred.
